Family Day at Green Lane Park
Today we introduced Cruz to the water at Green Lane Park. He walked right in, chasing a stick we threw, tried it out, and seems to like it even though it was chilly. It did, however cool him off enough to subside the panting from the warm temps outside. Green Lane Park offers fishing, boating, picnicking, horseback riding trails, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, family camping, tennis, playgrounds, cross-country skiing, ice skating, and ice fishing. The park consists of over 3400 acres and three bodies of water totaling 870 acres. The Reservoir section at Hill Road has electric rental boats. Rental row boats and private boat racks are available at the Walt Road Launch and Deep Creek Lake. The Deep Creek Lake area offers overnight campsites for family camping and the many recreational facilities, such as two tennis courts and two playgrounds and an enclosed pavilion. Four recreational activity sites within the park offer a variety of uses. All three of these sites have grills, large picnic areas, fishing and many open fields for a variety of active sports. Wintertime sees the heartier sports of ice skating, cross-country skiing, sledding and ice fishing. There are several miles of nature trails that attract hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians from far and wide to enjoy the natural beauty of the seasons. A great time to spend with the kids :o)

Well, this morning I noticed that one of Cruz's baby teeth are missing. No idea where it ended up, but it's gone! Yeah, could this be the beginning of the end of teething and nipping?
Woke up to several inches of fresh snow, on top of the already 15+/- inches. Snow is still falling, and will continue throughout the day. All the girls are off from school, and ready to play in the snow. Cruz is too:0) He spent night #2 on our bedroom floor. No more crate at night, he has our trust. All the gates have been taken down and he is free rome the house. He has been excellent and without an accident for weeks. Awesome!
I have a hard time getting him to come in from the outside today, he just loves the white stuff! Here he is looking in from outside as if to say, "Aren't you coming out to play?"
Yesterday I took him to my office at work. All the other agents were in awe. They complemented him on his temperment, behavior, beauty and all around being. Someone even commented, "That's the kind of dog I want to have." So cool! That's exactly how I found the breed. A friend of mine has a PWD that is now 6 years old. When I met her I thought she was the dog that I would get some day. Thanks Margaret & Belle!!

Cruz went in for a nail trim and did wonderful! All the employees were falling all over him in awe. He loves going with me in the car so any time I leave he runs to me to find out if he can come with. We got to meet a few new dogs from the "hood" this morning. Two labs and a mix breed. Very exciting!! Now we are waiting for the 12 inches of snow we are supposed to get tonight and into tomorrow. Can't wait! Here is a picture of Cruz having fun in the 2 inches of snow that we got on yesterday morning.

Winter Walk
Just got back from our first offical real walk. He has finally learned what a leash is ans is getting much better. Usually he would keep stopping and it ending up to be a sniffing session, instead of a walk. He made it for 15 minutes before he looked up at me like he had enough. I picked him up and carried him to give him a rest, then, back down for the home stretch. Great walk! My ears were really cold, so I figured it was long enough to be out, 20 minutes in total!! We both did great. Didn't see any other people walking their dogs, but it is early on a Saturday morning. I would of been sleeping if not woken at 6 am by a whining puppy!

Introducing...Cypress Bay's Midnight Cruz (aka "green boy")
Well, it has been a great 3 weeks with our puppy. He is so awesome. He is a really good and smart dog. I am so happy to finally have him in our family. At home he follows me everywhere I go. He has slept all night in his crate since bringing him home. Amazing! He has learned his name, learned to "sit", and rings the bell on the door when he has to be let out. The nipping has been the most challenging, though he is getting much better within the last few days. (Google is a great thing) He LOVES to be around other dogs, so I try to get him out a couple times a week to play with different friend's dogs. "Kody" (pictured above) lives next door and is a golden doodle. They play great together. Tomorrow is Cruz's visit to the vet for his 12 week well check and next round of vaccines. I can't wait to see how much he weights. He has grown so much in 3 short weeks

Welcome
I thought this blog would be a fun way to keep in touch with Jazzy's liter mates and other Portuguese Water Dog lovers out there. As the next few weeks progress, we will all be adjusting to bringing out little puppies home. Feel free and follow the blog, comment, share news on your pup or dog, or whatever you'd like.
